U~UV LAMP

With the popularity of gel nails, we are hearing more and more frequently the terms UV as well as LED lamps.

These lamps are used to solidify and cure the gel-type nail polish used, giving nails the rock hard sturdy reputation that gel manicures are known for.

UV lamps can be used to cure all types of gel nail polish where as LED lamps only cure polishes that are formulated for LED technology.

UV lamps emits ultra violet light and this has sparked concerns regarding its safety from being a cause of cancer to skin ageing and sun spots.

In 2012, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston  reported that it would take 250 years of weekly gel manicures to equal the exposure of one session with an FDA-approved UV phototherapy lamp, a device that doctors widely consider safe.

With that concern in mind, gel manicure lovers can always choose to protect themselves!
